October is Weatherization Month
October 30, 2018 Proclaimed as “WEATHERIZATION DAY”
October is proclaimed “Weatherization Month”. The goal for the Northwestern Ohio Community Action Commission’s Home Weatherization Assistance Program (HWAP) is to provide permanent solutions to reduce the energy burden on low-income families by installing cost-effective, energy-efficient materials and services and achieve results in energy savings for income eligible individuals. We work to make homes safe, comfortable and energy efficient. Our technicians use computerized energy audits and advanced diagnostic technologies, such as a blower door to determine the most cost-effective measures for each home. They also assess related health and safety conditions. Our technicians check furnaces and other appliances for carbon monoxide.
- An average of $7,261 in material and labor can be installed per unit.
- Income eligibility is 200% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines.
One of the clients served through the HWAP program sent a letter to NOCAC expressing their appreciation in the help they received:
