April Showers Really Do Bring May Flowers!

NOCAC’s Head Start centers have been gearing up for another spring planting season.

Farm to early childhood education (Farm to ECE) is a group of strategies and hands-on learning activities that increase access to healthy foods, gardening opportunities, and education about food, nutrition, and agriculture for our youngest learners.  Incorporating natural and authentic opportunities for child learning is embedded in both our Head Start and Early Head Start programs’ five year goals.

Zaryah proudly displays the seedlings that are ready for planting in the center’s outdoor learning area raised garden beds.

Maddilynn and Reghan enjoy the sweet fragrance of tulips grown from last year’s bulb plantings in the school garden.

April and Reghan agree that April showers do bring very pretty May flowers!
