Home Weatherization Assistance
Program:
The HWAP program is funded through the Ohio Department of
Development, Office of Energy Efficiency. Weatherization
activities save energy costs for income eligible individuals
by providing energy-related home repairs and other modifications
to their homes, which may be owned or rented. Our goal is
to make homes safe, comfortable, and energy efficient, while
reducing the heating & cooling costs paid by low-income consumers.
To be eligible for this program, a person may not make over
150% of the federal poverty guidelines. Click
here to see the Federal Poverty Guidelines.
Eligible applicants are served on a “need for services” priority
basis.
The Weatherization Program benefits the community by reducing
energy usage, providing client education and by improving
the environment. Our Weatherization crews and technicians
use diagnostic technologies such as a blower door and an energy
audit to determine the most cost effective measures to use
for each home. Health & Safety issues such as furnace
and water heater replacement are also assessed, however funding
for this is limited, and, if the unit is a rental, the landlord
is required to contribute to the repair costs.
